Partnership with Parents

We understand that strong partnerships with parents play a key part in the success of children. Parents/Carers are a child's first teacher so we need your help to enable your child to reach their full potential whilst they are at Henry Allen. We have an open-door policy and are happy to communicate with you about any concerns, worries or achievements that you may wish to tell us about. Likewise, we will speak to you regularly at the beginning or end of a session about your child so you know what they enjoy doing at school, what they are doing well and what they may need extra support with.

Throughout the year we run parent workshops and 'stay and play' sessions to help you understand fully the Early Years Curriculum, and also to give you the opportunity to play with your children in the setting.  We also provide termly parent consultation meetings where we can talk in depth about your child.

We will also keep you informed about different events and activities through our regular newsletter.

If you would like to offer help in the Nursery then please speak to your child's teacher.  There are plenty of things you can do in the classroom, from playing a tabletop game to helping with cooking.  Your help in the nursery and when we have trips out is always appreciated.

For those who would like to support the school in other ways, we are always grateful for your help.  If you have any skill to offer, from carpentry to computers, please let us know.

For ideas about what to do with your children. You might like to look at the children's activity passport which has been published by the government. Look at the activities for reception aged children.
